Item of the Week…

August 28, 2011

To get over the holiday blues these iconic shaped ice cream cones would make a great addition to your kitchen. Silver plated, with mini spades to match, you can get the feel of eating ice cream at the sea side whilst looking sophisticated in your own home. A great touch for serving homemade ice cream at dinner parties. Ice cream cones come in a set of 2 for £29, mini spades come in a set of 4 for £18. Both available from Graham & Green.

A visit to… Portugal

August 27, 2011

I have just come back from a holiday in the Algarve, Portugal and the beautiful surroundings and surface designs provided me with a lot of inspiration. Much of the patterns found on architectural and decoration elements of Portuguese buildings are similar to Moroccan designs and even the smallest details to the Portuguese tiles were attractive. Combining what I noticed from the Portuguese interiors, the influences and finds from this holiday I have produced a design scheme that could be transferred into a British home (or your holiday home!) to get that Portuguese look.

Love… Eiffel Tower Lamp

August 26, 2011

I love this Eiffel Tower lamp from Graham& Green – a really original idea. This statement piece would make a talking point with people visiting your home. It would be ideal for creating a feature to an otherwise uninspiring desk or fit harmoniously into a contemporary home. Available from Graham & Green for £95.

National Design Academy

August 26, 2011

At the end of July I found out that I was a runner-up for the National Design Academy Competition 2011. The competition involved designing a penthouse for rental use in accordance to the client’s requirements and to a budget of £100,000. It was a great experience and with over 200 entries I never thought I would be a finalist in the competition! Have a look at my entry below and the websites that display my design.
